In
January 1990, architect Janiel de Kock and master
craftsman Johan Steyl established De Steyl Furniture
in George. Their philosophy from the outset was
to break away from the traditional mould and offer
a contemporary, architectural approach to furniture
design with an emphasis on quality, craftsmanship
and superior finishing.
Throughout the past two decades De Steyl has grown
into a well balanced modern company offering a
unique blend of furniture design and manufacturing
skills in the Garden Route of South Africa. Their
uncompromising professional approach to every
project and the ability to understand and solve
the individual requirements of their customers
has led to numerous prestigious commissions over
the years.
De Steyl is led by furniture architect Deanne
Viljoen who, since joining the team in 1997, has
managed to instil in young De Steyl makers an
appreciation of design and a culture of quality
and innovation aimed to assist design professionals,
developers and discerning individuals alike. Be
it a large hotel contract or a small bespoke piece,
great care is taken to not only please, but to
delight the customer from initial consultation
through to final installation.
