A Contemporary Beach House in Sedgefield
ARCHITECTURE We were recently commissioned by Chris Sparks of Jarmila Logie Architects in Johannesburg to design & manufacture interior joinery and furniture for this stunning contemporary home in Myoli Beach, Sedgefield. The architecture is dramatic in scale and materials like concrete, stone and tiles were used to create the perfect calm and cool shelter infused with light and air. This massive home was built by Chris Smuts of Praxos Construction in Knysna, to the exacting standards of the architect and client.
KITCHEN DESIGN De Steyl created an understated kitchen that links with and becomes part of the living areas while still being extremely functional and sleek. We used 13mm Snow White Caesarstone for the counter tops with washed Oak and white lacquered cabinets and Glasskote splash backs the colour of the walls. Where possible, appliances were integrated to create a clean, calm and seamless appearance. This is an easy and accessible space and the extended family enjoy being together around the island while cooking.
LIVING SPACE The lounge and living spaces flow on different levels, also reflected in the floating Oak bulkheads that we made. The interior was designed by Rhona Carter of Johannesburg and reflects the laid-back yet sophisticated style of the owners.
BEDROOMS & BATHROOMS We used the same design aesthetic throughout the house and made tall wardrobes with thick Oak sides and white lacquered finger grip doors. The floating vanities has Ceasarstone tops and semi drop-in basins.
